4.5 stars!
Tegan Ash has to get married so she can stay in the United States. She's got nothing waiting for her at home in Australia and she's got a groom ready to go until he backs out. Tegan thinks Chet changed his mind because of his best friend Jamie. They've never gotten along until Chet, the thread that ties them together is no longer the buffer between them. Jamie feels bad for Ash and wants to help her especially since his best pal let her down...
Novellas aren't very long and if you're lucky the one you're reading is written very well so you get the whole story in a small number of pages. Lillian Darcy is veteran author and this novella doesn't disappoint.
Tegan is let brutally down when Chet backs out at the altar but she realizes what she was asking of him was too much to ask from anyone. When Chet reveals his reasons for saying no at the last minute, Tegan is astounded by the maturity Jamie shows especially when she didn't think he was capable. Jamie's view of Tegan changes when he sees her stripped of the shield she wears.
Seeing Tegan and Jamie really see each other for the first time was wonderful. Watching them come to grips with the personal hurdles and try to cross them so that they be together was great; most couples these days give up the moment they come across obstacles. The chemistry between was smoking as well.
I'm loving these Montana Born stories. I'm sure you will as well.
A cute story
Marry Me, Cowboy is the second Copper Mountain Rodeo series. Interestingly enough they are written by different authors. The books in this series are written by different authors and the first one I read, Promise Me, Cowboy, was good until the end when I felt it just ended too quickly. This one was quick, but I liked it. I didn't mind it so much.
Tegan needs a green card wedding so she can stay in the states. She has nothing to go back to Australia for. She is supposed to marry Chet, but he backs out at the last minute. Tegan initially blames Jamie as well...they can't stand each other. She assumes he said or did something to make Chet change his mind the night before the wedding. Since she is not getting her green card wedding she resolves herself to moving back to Australia until she can figure some way to come back.
Jamie doesn't know how to talk to women. He never seems to say much around them, which is usually not an issue. Tegan calls him out on his lack of conversation and they have a fun argumentative relationship. They never seem to hang out one on one in the two years they have known each other. Chet is always there as well as they are all friends. When Chet reveals his big secret and leaves to go visit his family Jamie and Tegan find themselves alone together for the first time. They realize maybe they don't hate each other.
