Here is the Trescott Hill/Route 44 intersection in Canaan, Route 63 where it meets Route 7 in Falls Village and the crosswalk at Salisbury School on Route 44. Those locations are among the sites of traffic accidents that cause concern for town leaders.

Members of the state’s Department of Transportation and Lt. William Baldwin, commander of the State Police at Troop B in Canaan, listened as first selectmen from area towns told about fatalities and near-misses at several locations and hoped they could work out some ways to address them.

The selectmen made it clear they had high praise for the DOT and the help they’ve received during various situations.

The meeting was called by state Rep. Brian Ohler, R-Canaan, to get a regional perspective on traffic safety. He suggested leaders go back to their towns to speak to individuals about how to mitigate some of the problems for another regional meeting in March.
