Mary Alice White Conservation Easement:
She was a formidable woman, and I had the privilege of working with her on the Salisbury Land Trust. We don’t believe the Nature Conservancy should take the liberty of altering her easement. The causeway she protected was for the old CNE railroad which went across the lake there. It is historic, a nature habitat, and altering the easement will set a bad precedent.
PETITION BY RESIDENTS OF SALISBURY IN THE MATTER OF WETLAND BUFFER RESTORATION
MARY ALICE WHITE PRESERVE/TNC EASEMENT/TWIN LAKES CAUSEWAY
We, the undersigned residents of Salisbury, petition the Inland Wetlands and Watercourse Agency of the Town of Salisbury that the above captioned matter be deemed a significant activity. We request that a public hearing be held on the application to restore and monitor wetland buffer damage to the Twin Lakes Causeway. This violation is the subject of a show cause hearing at your Monday December 7th meeting. Some of us have observed firsthand, with great distress, the destruction of this ecologically important area.
The meeting will be on Zoom, on Monday December 7. To join the meeting, here are the details:
