Advanced Practice Registered Nurse joins Sharon Hospital Medical Practice

An advanced practice registered nurse born and raised in the northwest corner is the latest addition to Sharon Hospital Medical Practice’s primary care office in Sharon

“I became a nurse practitioner to help patients develop a positive relationship with their bodies and realize they have a choice to care for themselves,” said Rebecca Malone, who has lived in Sharon for 30 years. “It is important that our communities grow up healthy, and I have the privilege to educate and promote healthy lifestyles to patients.”

Malone has 10 years of experience and treats patients of all ages. Her areas of interest include pediatrics, adolescent and women’s health, family medicine and the treatment of substance use disorder, anxiety and depression.

She most recently served as the director of nursing at High Watch Recovery Center in Kent, Conn. In this role, she oversaw patient admissions, treatment plans and clinical policies and procedures. She also treated adults battling substance abuse and those with co-occurring medical and mental illnesses.

Malone also has nine years of experience caring for pediatric patients in a clinical setting. As an APRN, she provided primary and preventative care for infants through early adulthood, such breastfeeding and nutrition education, allergy management and treatment of gastrointestinal conditions.

She earned her master’s in nursing from the University of Tampa in Florida and graduated summa cum laude from Northeastern University in Boston Mass., with a bachelor’s in nursing.

Malone is an active member in the surrounding communities, serving as a coach and board member for the Webatuck Valley Soccer League and vice president of the Sharon Center School’s Parent Teacher Association.

In her spare time, she enjoys hiking with her children and dog, coaching sports and working on the family farm.

The primary care office is at 29 Hospital Hill Road, Suite 1400, Sharon. To schedule an appointment, call 860-364-7029 (TTY: 800-842-9710). Read more about primary care services in Sharon at healthquest.org/primarycare.
