How to get born again? You call on the name of Jesus for salvation in faith in the finish work on the cross. Jesus was asked, "What must I do to inherit eternal Life?" Jesus responded, "You must be born again?" Jesus explained that we are born to exist naturally and that we must be born of the spirit.
God became a man to create a spiritual race. There is the natural realm on Earth and the spiritual realm in Heaven. We bear the image of the natural and must be born again to bear the image of God in the spirit in the glorification of the body in the resurrection of the body.
What is the Born Again Experience?
The born again experience is being born of the Spirit. The first birth is from water, and the second is of the Spirit. We all come from Adam, the head of the human race that sinned.
When a person is born of the Spirit, the old nature of sinful flesh is crucified with Christ. The born again believer receives a new nature in Christ in the Spirit. Jesus Christ is the second Adam, who is the head of the spiritual race.
Jesus became a man to conquer sin and death. Jesus rose from the dead, so that we could partake in the resurrection in Him. Here is exactly what happens at the point that a person is born of the Spirit.
What work must I do for eternal life?
The common belief is that you can go to heaven by being a good person. Jesus was asked, "What good work must I perform to inherit eternal life?" Jesus responds, "The work is to believe in the one whom the Father sent and to believe in His finished work on the cross."
In conclusion of the comments of Jesus. A person must be born again through believing in the finished work of Jesus on the cross and resurrection. We are saved by God's grace through faith in Jesus. It is a gift of God not of works lest any one should boast.
What is the finished work of Jesus?
We need to believe the gospel of Jesus Christ. This is the gospel.
I Corinthians 15:3-4 says,
Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures. (KJV)
How to get born again is explained in the next verses. When we hear the gospel it produces faith and we are to mix our hearing with faith and confess Jesus as our Lord and savior.
What causes the rebirth in the Spirit?
When one hears the Gospel of Jesus it produces faith. The person that hears the gospel has to mix their hearing with that faith and believe the gospel. The hearer believes in their heart that God raised Jesus from the dead and confession is made with the mouth that Jesus is Lord.
When this happens, the believer’s spirit comes into agreement with the Holy Spirit that they need forgiveness. The believer cries out to God and asks Him to become their father. The believer receives the spirit of adoption.
Romans 10:8-13 says,
But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
