Attorney Alan Perer joined Wendy Bell and Marty Griffin to discuss the abuse that went on in the catholic churches in Pittsburgh. He has at least 35 cases involving Pittsburgh Diocese victims. He strongly feels these priests that committed these acts should be in jail.

Councilman Corey O’Connor joined Wendy Bell and Marty Griffin to talk about the possible preventative laws for people trying to purchase semi-automatic weapons. People who are considered an “extreme risk” shouldn’t be allowed to have any guns.

Marty Griffin and Wendy Bell talked with Kevin Joyce, owner of The Carlton in Pittsburgh’s bustling business, hotel and cultural district about Frontier Airlines encouraging their passengers to tip their flight attendants and how it just isn’t the same as having to tip a waiter or waitress at a restaurant.

This week on Kidsburgh, Kristine Sorensen joined Marty Griffin and Wendy Bell live in studio to talk about the Broadway musical Hamilton which is performing 32 shows here in Pittsburgh over the month of January.  Students studying at musical theater at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School in Beaver County were given the opportunity to attend a master class taught my Tre Frazier, a member of the Hamilton class.  During the class the students learned about the show and the history it tells through song and dance.

Dr. Lisa Pan, with the STAR (Service for Teens at Risk) Center at UPMC joined Marty Griffin and Wendy Bell to talk about teen depression and anxiety.  She described the sort of children/teens she sees and their behavior.  Dr. Pan adds that depression and anxiety are real medical problems that need to be addressed.  She shared ways for parents to talk/confront their children and that if a child comes to you for help, you should act on it as quickly as possible.  No one should ever been ashamed of getting help.

Judge Frank Luccino joined Marty Griffin and Wendy Bell to talk about whether or not felons should have the right to vote.  There are different laws in different states, for instance in PA a felon who has served time and is out of prison can vote and in New Jersey officials are working on a law that would allow felons in prison to vote.  What do you think?

Gary Van Horn joined Wendy and Marty to talk about comedian Kevin Hart’s comments about gay people.  Hart has since apologized and is now aware how it makes people feel and says he won’t be doing jokes like that anymore.

A woman has been in a vegetative state at a nursing facility in Arizona for going on 14 years after a near drowning experience; she gave birth to a baby last weekend and no one knows who did this to her.  The staff at the facility didn’t even know she was pregnant until they heard the woman during labor.  Attorney Rob Pierce tells Marty and Wendy what to do when choosing a nursing or care facility for a family member; he shares what you should be aware of and what you should look for.  He suggests talking to a roommate because someone may see something.

Marty and Wendy talk with Lisa Razza who is with the facebook group "Love like the Boys" that is in memory of David amd Cecil Rosenthal.  Lisa has been and the organization she works for has been helping the boys for over 20 years.  Wendy took the challenge when she won a 50-50 at her boys basketball game and people really responded to it and hopefully will pass it along.  Lisa said the page has members from all over the world such as Isreal, Switzerland, Canada, and the UK but most of the members are from right here in western Pennsylvania.

Marty and Wendy talked with Grace Coleman the Executive Director of Crisis Center North about the program she runs called, PAWS for Empowerment.  This program uses service dogs to provide solace to individuals that are testifying in court and they also have dogs that help at Crisis Center North.  They talk about how they train the dogs and how long they train them for.
