Reflecting on today's readings, especially the healing of the man born blind, Fr. Asitha draws our attention to our own spiritual blindness. Such blindness can take many forms. We may be blind to God's goodness and be quick to complain. We may be blind to the goodness and needs of others and instead see only their faults and our own self-interests. Whatever the source and form of our blindness, Fr. Asitha invites us to come to the light of Christ and pray, "Jesus, let me see again." 

Ranking as one of the most popular of the psalms, Psalm 23 is quite rich. But its familiarity can often cause us to pass over it too quickly. This week we slow down to take a closer look into this comforting prayer. Read in light of our Gospel this Sunday, the sacramental imagery pops off the page.

Jesus encounters a Samaritan woman at a well and asks for a drink. A discussion ensues and the woman goes from ostracized and ashamed to openly proclaiming Jesus as the Christ. Fr. This lent is a time for us in the desert where we can choose each day to turn away from Egypt - our past sins - and turn to the water Christ gives. It’s a time for us to say, as we do in the refrain, “If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts.”
