Mary Alston and Beverly Roberts truly thought that they were doing the right thing. They spent their retirement off of a main road near Wetumpka, Alabama's city courthouse practicing TNR, or trap, neuter, release.
It's a practice that is nationally-recognized as the cure for an area's cat problems. But the city's cat ladies had developed a reputation around town as a couple of troublemakers. And this time, they had stirred up trouble one too many times.
