In this episode we discuss the new Netflix movie May December which is fiction, inspired by the real life story of Mary Kay Letourneau. Everyone of a certain age knows this story because it is impossible to forget. Mary Kay was a married mother of four living in Seattle and teaching sixth grade when she became infatuated with one of her students, 12 year old Vili Fualaau. She spent months grooming him, and his mother, and in 2006, when he was 13 she began having sex with him. She would later claim that she did not know that it was a crime for a woman to have sex with a young boy. She believed they were in love and was really quite delusional. Believe it or not the story gets even more tragic. Using fictional characters having the same experience, May December imagines what Mary Kay and Vili's lives were like 20 years later, still together, with their children grown and leaving home.
