Mary Wanless began her journey in a British riding school and pursued a degree in Physics at Bristol University, where she also competed for the university riding team.  After earning her British Horse Society Instructor's Certificate, she was frustrated with her progress , prompting a temporary shift away from the horse world to explore psychotherapy, Tai Chi, and other disciplines in London. This interlude led to a pivotal change in her approach to riding, focusing more on body awareness than traditional training. This revolutionized her understanding of riding skills.

Over the last 40 years, Mary has become a leading expert in the field of rider biomechanics, authoring seven books and producing numerous DVDs. Her teachings, which emphasize the biomechanical harmony between rider and horse, have influenced competitors at all levels, including international Grand Prix dressage riders. Her journey of personal and professional transformation has inspired countless individuals, positioning her as a respected figure in both the personal development and equestrian training communities.
