Maryland Transit Times host Rob Lewis speaks with Director of Bus Maintenance David Varner about the 70 new arrivals to the MDOT MTA bus fleet. The new buses are lighter to help save fuel, have new safety features such as safe turn alert to inform pedestrians that the bus is turning and a new dashboard to help improve with maintenance. These new buses will replace some of the older models in the fleet and will have a life span of 12 years. We look forward to seeing the new buses on the road servicing our riders.

The rail rodeo is a friendly contest that MDOT MTA hosts every year to determine which rail operator and rail maintenance crew is the best of the best. The MDOT MTA Rail Rodeo also helps recognize rail operators and maintenance employees by cultivating a high level of professionalism through a rigorous series of competitive tasks. This year’s MDOT MTA Rail Rodeo 1st, 2nd and 3rd place rail operator winners are Earleke Kidd, Eugene Metts and Michael Morris. #MDOTNews
