Bringing hope to children in detention centres in Madagascar

Excitement abounds as Mary’s Meals has begun feeding in 12 new primary schools in the Wau region of South Sudan. Together with our new partner MHA (Mary Help Association) another 5,000 children will receive this essential meal every school day.

Over the past decade, tremendous progress has been made in terms of increasing access to education for all, which has led to increased enrolments, especially for young girls.Sadly, the Covid-19 pandemic has, in many ways, crippled development in various areas of the world and the education sector has not been spared.

Despite all the challenges which young Jefferlyn faces growing up in Liberia, she is determined to fulfil her ambitions of becoming a brain surgeon when she leaves school – even if that means getting up in the middle of the night to study.

The world should be looking out for little Gibson Nonde from Zambia, because any four-year-old who has the courage and the motivation to enrol himself in school has the potential to achieve anything!
