On Valentine’s Day 2018, Max Schachter’s life changed forever when his son, Alex, was murdered in the Parkland school shooting—the deadliest high school shooting in U.S. history. Since that day, Max has dedicated his life to preventing future tragedies, working with legislators, law enforcement, and school officials to improve school safety nationwide.
The killer used an AR-15 semi-automatic, which he assembled in the school stairwell adjacent to the first floor classrooms. He fired the AR-15, which had an engraved swastika, 139 times. It is worth noting, several law enforcement failures occurred surrounding this horrific event.
Max Schachter, the father of one of the victims, Alex Schachter, joins me on this episode of Some Future Day. Since the mass shooting, Mr. Schachter has elevated to become the preeminent mind surrounding school safety. But he is way more than simply a national school safety advocate. Max Schachter is a brave, fearless, and tireless soul who will never stop fighting for his son Alex and all the other victims and families of school shootings.
In this episode, you'll learn about:
This is a conversation about grief, action, and a father’s relentless mission to make sure no other family endures the pain he has suffered.
