I had the opportunity to meet Kayla Cunningham during my first visit to my new dentist. I found Kayla to be focused, knowledgeable, confident and very easy to talk to. After a short interaction I learned that she was going to go and study and train for her Doctoral Degree in Dentistry, and at that point, I knew that Kayla would be an excellent person to interview for this podcast.
Kayla expresses clearly in this interview her challenges, and interesting instances of potential divergence followed by convergence in her professional studies. Kayla also inspires us as she goes on to tell us that once she found her passion, her strong momentum to getting her Doctoral Degree in Dentistry is pushing her to that goal. With her own ethical practice. Listen to Kayla’s advice in the last 10 seconds of this podcast. Powerful.

Professor Matthew Weathers teaches Mathematics at Biola University, where he is the Learning Management Coordinator. Prof. Weathers got his Bachelors Degree in Math and Computer Science from Biola University, and his Master's Degree in Computer Science from the University of Southern California.
I first heard of Professor Weathers by accident. A very happy accident. A very entertaining accident. I came across one of his many YouTube videos, this one titled “Math Professor Fixes Projector Screen (April Fools Prank)”. I was curious.
I watched and enjoyed it greatly. This particular video has over 16.2 million views and over 640K likes. He has many other videos, some going viral with over 100 million views.
Nikita Petrosyan is a very smart young individual who I happen to know well. In this episode, Nik tells us about his intriguing new approach to finding his passion. He started his college career picking Aerospace Engineering as his major, and soon move on and landed with a Chemical Engineering Bachelor’s degree from the University at Buffalo.
Nik is currently a Data Analytics Engineer at Trend Miner N.V. in Texas. Before that, he spent over 6 years at BASF working as an Acetylene Technology Engineer.
Prior to BASF, Nik worked at Lion Elastomers where he helped in the development of applications of low molecular weight EPDM rubber from conceptualization to formulation and testing, as well as the development of fillers for rubber compositions for the rubber to be used for improved mileage of tires.
Sol Eagle Road is currently working as an English teacher in Japan. He is also enrolled in a full-time program with the University of Oklahoma working on an M.L.S. in Indigenous Peoples Law.
Sol graduated from the University of North Dakota with a B.A. with a Major in Chinese Studies. This was an integral stepping stone in finding viable solutions and approaches for developing opportunities in Indian Country.
Sol studied abroad in Mainland China. He lived in Chengdu, a city in Sichuan Province. The surrounding province is one of the most ethnically diverse provinces in China. About half of the 55 recognized minority peoples live in Sichuan Province. Sol wanted to compare a sense of ethnic and cultural identity with linguistic health of Chinese minority peoples to that of Native Americans and see if minority peoples globally can exist in a country with financial generation as one of its primary goals.
In 2016, Sol was selected as a Udall Scholar, Tribal Policy category.
In May 2014, Sol graduated from Haskell Indian Nations University with an A.A. in Liberal Arts. He is proud and thankful to have received the beginning of his higher education from a university that serves the needs of Federally Recognized Tribes.

These studies are aimed at describing the relationship between structure and electronic properties in nanocrystals and are leading to practical renewable energy technologies.
Professor Owen is particularly interested in solution-processed semiconductor films that interconvert the energy in sunlight, electricity, and chemicals.
Owen Fingerhut, a senior student in Chemistry at Hillsdale College (Michigan) offers a perspective of his quest in the past four years for professional direction.
Owen tells us about the emotional aspects of deciding his professional career, applying to college. The ambiguity about so many things when the options are so many.
