Negative self-talk robs you of happiness, makes you miserable, and can lead to depression, anxiety and/or illness. It leads to negative filtering, which itself is considered a cognitive distortion. We spoke about that last week. People that filter for the negative have literally trained their brains to zero in on the bad how? With practice. Practice makes perfect and this applies to our thinking.

Unhelpful thoughts stir up negative feelings, which in turn trigger more negative thoughts, creating a negative feedback loop.
