College textbooks on economics tell us that we are rational beings that make rational decisions leading to predictable behavior. Behavioral economists--like Richard Thaler who won the Nobel Prize in economics this year, say it is just the opposite. Mostly we make irrational decisions all the time, which leads to the unpredictable lives we lead. Scientists tell us that we hate to lose more than we like to win.
