It’s always exciting to jump into something new and promisinTg and try your hand at it, whether pursuing a goal, inculcating a new habit, or investing in personal development.

But as the novelty wears down, most people find themselves struggling with keeping up with the routine and eventually give up. Only a handful of those who remain put and keep going eventually make it till the end and succeed in accomplishing what they set out to get.

I’m an optimist. I believe in choosing to see the best possibilities in a situation and committing to making those possibilities into reality. Knowing this, you may be surprised when I say that when life gives you lemons, you don’t have to make lemonade.

The other thing you may want to know about me is that I love to take old-fashioned wisdom and well-known sayings and turn them on their heads.

In the spirit of challenging long-accepted words of wisdom, today it is once again time to take something that ain’t broke, and fix it. Here’s why you should stop making lemonade when life gives you lemons.

You most likely know the adage already, but just in case you don’t know any optimists, or you’re from a town where they’ve never heard of citrus fruits for some reason, it goes like this:

When life gives you lemons (something unexpected or unfortunate), make lemonade (the best of a bad situation).
