In what my be the heaviest episode of Masters of Divinity yet, JP and Father Chuck discuss Incels. You might not be familiar with the term "Incel," and if you are, it's probably because you've heard it mentioned once or twice on the news after recent events in Toronto, Canada, when a man performed an ISIS-style attack on civillians. JP and Father Chuck shed light on what exactly and Incel is. They talk about the internet subculture phenomenon that is the manosphere and the red pill, and how it relates to Incels, as well as the Incel philosophy.

In our final installment of this year's Music Mayhem, JP has brought us The Colour and the Shape, Foo Fighters' second album that featured such timeless alt. rock hits like Monkey Wrench, My Hero and Everlong. JP has been in love with the album for quite some time and Matt has a fondness for Foo Fighters...but when Father Chuck and Guest Moderator Father Fun listen to the album, they're not as impressed. Mutiny! Civil war! A house divided! Listen to the epic conclusion of Music Mayhem which clocks in at [checks notes]..an hour and fifty-five minutes. Father Fun is back, baby! And he's brought us a big, juicy piece of music for us to dig our fangs into - the smash broadway hit HAMILTON, by Lin-Manuel Miranda. We know that this is a pretty unconventional choice as it's not technically an album, but we've decided that in an attempt to not homogenize Music Mayhem, we want to use the month to explore as much of the landscape of music as possible -- so what better way to do that than to listen to a hit musical play?

Hamilton is a pop culture phenomenon. The first of it's kind, Hamilton presents a multi-culticultural hip-hop narrative about the life of Alexander Hamilton, and the foundation of the United States of America. Examining a musical on a platform like Music Mayhem was a fun and new experience for us, as Father Chuck and JP had never actually seen the play or listened to the soundtrack in its entirety, unlike Father Fun who prides himself on being a true Hamilton fan. It's an episode for newbs and fans alike!

Listen the soundtrack as soon as possible, or if you're not convinced, listen to the episode and find out how a bastard, orphan, son of a whore and a Scotsman, dropped in the middle of a forgotten spot in the Caribbean by providence, impoverished, in squalor grow up to be a hero and a scholar.

THIS WEEK...

Oh boy. This installment of Music Mayhem is unprecedented, as Matt brings us Supernatural by DC Talk. Why so unprecedented? Is it because it's the first CCM album we've discussed? Or is it because it's...not...great? You could say both!

DC Talk's Supernatural was the follow-up to Jesus Freak, which was the band's most acclaimed and most remembered album. Even though Supernatural found a lot of success financially, the album didn't produce anything particularly special or memorable. This didn't stop a young Matt Wells from purchasing it as his first ever album though! Find out why exactly Matt chose such a bewildering follow-up, in the second installment of Music MAY-hem!
