The Mathias Ham House sits in Dubuque, Iowa. This is located right on the border of the Mississippi River. In fact, that is how Mathias Ham made his fortune to in turn build a house in the 1800s. However, the home only held the family for his next generation before being sold to the state in order to eventually become a museum.
