This episode is an update for all my listeners about Matins, my life, and a few other things. I talk about finding a new (Presbyterian) church and announce a contest.
Contest Details
The challenge is simple: read a book. In particular, read one of these books: The Bruised Reed, On Social Justice, The Wonderful Works of God, Gentle and Lowly, The Screwtape Letters, On Reading Well, On the Incarnation, The Lamentation of a Sinner, Advent, Holiness, Between Wittenberg and Geneva, and Fratelli Tutti.
Once you've read one of the 12 books, email me at [email protected] with a short review — let's say more than 200 words but fewer than 500. Tell me why you liked the book or why you hated it. Make it personal. Tell me something cool. I'll judge the reviews and pick a winner, and I will buy the winner a brand new, premium Bible (estimated value between $100 and $150). I'll also let the winner pick another book to be read and discussed on a future episode. Many of these books are available online for free, but some aren't. I understand money is tight, but I think you'll find the vast majority are available at your local library. I tried to pick books (with one exception) that were affordable.
The deadline for sending in your review is 11:59PM on January 31. I'll announce the winner by the end of February. Due to shipping costs, if you don't live in the U.S. we may need to find an alternative prize — but we'll figure something out.
Have fun reading, and I look forward to reading your reviews!
