Jesus has told the disciples what they must do to be ready for the end. Now we go back to the whole focus of the end of the gospel account. Jesus is going to be crucified. While the Chief Priest schemes, thinking they are getting the upper hand, the text makes it clear that this is all a part of God's plan.
