We live in a sex driven society. The church has responded to it in one of two ways: condemnation or accommodation. The problem with condemning or accommodating views regarding sex culture is that it assumes we are passive victims of desire, and in both views it places all blame for our struggle “out there” in the culture. Jesus’ words on from the sermon on the mount offers us a more nuanced view.

All the warnings in the Bible about sex are designed around the idea that sex is good and the warnings are there to protect something that is powerful and fragile – it is not designed to suppress freedom.
