This Chapter is a continuation of Chapter 24, concluding the teaching Jesus gave on the Mount of Olives. This Chapter concludes the last major teaching recorded in Matthew. This is the fifth discourse or major teaching. In this Chapter Jesus teaches the parable of the 10 virgins, the parable of the talents given to three servants, and the chapter ends with the final judgment separating the sheep from the goats. The application from these three teachings is for us to 1. Allow God to prepare us for his return. 2. Use our gifts and talents to advance God’s kingdom, and 3.
