Pixie + Music

Pixie plays all the music

Pixie plays music from the high desert.

Join Pixie and special guest Maggie for a lively and eclectic episode of "Mature Content." They kick off the show by exploring the humorous yet profound lyrics of The Divine Comedy's "Time Stretch," celebrating the artist's ability to blend serious orchestral music with witty, self-deprecating words. The conversation then takes a turn to "in memoriam" segments, paying tribute to Black Sabbath with a classic track and discussing a famously absurd Black Sabbath tribute show featuring choreography and pig's blood.

Later, they delve into the comedic genius of Tom Lehrer, playing "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park" and "We Will All Go Together," reflecting on the chilling relevance of his Cold War-era satire. Pixie and Maggie share personal anecdotes about aging, memory, and the peculiar romantic lives of their parents in memory care, leading to laugh-out-loud moments about "hall passes" and lederhosen-wearing gentlemen. The show rounds out with music from Alex Cameron, Get Down Services, and Self Esteem, and a preview of Jamie Wyatt's old-school country sound.
