God talks to us in a variety of ways, but the final standard is His Word. We hear Him in His Word first of all by applying it to our lives. Learning to apply it in a New Testament context is important if we want to hear Him clearly.

Legalism keeps us from hearing God clearly and leads us to misunderstand and misapply scriptures. This teaching explains how that happens, giving examples, and shows how to fix it.

We often misunderstand God by viewing Him through the lens of the Mosaic Law. The Law veiled God, and only in Christ is the Law/veil removed, and as a result we see and hear God clearly.

We want to see as much of God flow out of us as possible. This manifests as character and power, through the fruit and gifts of the Spirit. As we seek for this, we have to hold two truths in tension: there is nothing we can do to earn more of God in our lives, but we do have use our faith to receive what He’s already paid for.
