Welcome to another MCAT Master Interview! In this series, we talk with MCAT top scorers so that we can find out what strategies helped them the most in their process, and hopefully inspire you as you’re studying. Just because you’re struggling with the MCAT now doesn’t mean you can’t improve! We want to show you how top-scorers have raised their scores so that you can do the same!

Meet Julia Meguro, a 519 scorer:

When Julia started her prep, she had a concrete goal that she wanted to reach. She’d already been accepted to a program that required her to score at least a 512 on the exam. Setting out with this goal in mind, Julia studied for two and a half months while she also had an internship, and ended up scoring a 511 on her first take, just shy of her goal! Disappointed but knowing how she could improve, Julia took a break and decided to retake with full focus for a month when she was at home, but with three weeks left before her test date she still hadn’t moved her score beyond her 510 plateau. In those final three weeks, she focused on her strategy, and improved her score to an amazing 519 by test day!

From March to May (2 months), Noah's score was pretty much stagnant at a 500. His test date? June 27, 2020! Now, with around one month to go before the test date, he took another practice test and scored a 496. At this point, Noah knew something had to change. On May 20th, he signed up to work with an MCAT Mastery Mentor. We are so proud of Noah and his success, and hope that his story can inspire you on your own journey!

The MCAT is an extremely science-heavy exam. Studying for it can be a struggle for any student, especially for non-traditional students who have not taken MCAT-related courses in a long time.

Although he struggled a lot with sciences when he was in school, that did not discourage the 41-year-old Kent Kellenberger from taking the MCAT. Determined to become a doctor and save lives, he added the MCAT preparation to his already busy schedule with his full-time job and quality time with his wife and daughter.

Kent's story is an excellent testament that regardless of your circumstances, with hard work and perseverance, you can succeed on this exam!

When Julia first started prepping for the MCAT, she found herself scoring around a 496 on practice exams. She ended up taking the MCAT officially and scored a 508. Although it was a fairly good score, it was below her goal. She knew that if she had the potential to do better, she should definitely go for it. For this reason, she set out to take the MCAT again, only to score a 499 on a practice exam right away. She had less than 7 weeks to her second test day so feeling discouraged, she decided to enlist the help of one of our MCAT mentors. And by working on her mindset and learning the best ways to improve on her weaker sections, Julia was eventually able to increase her score to a 515 by her second test date! This is a 16 point increase in less than 50 days, but although improving by this much is a difficult feat, Julia is proof that it is absolutely possible with the right work ethic!

At the start of her prep, Priya was overwhelmed and intimidated by the exam and after a lot of frustration and stagnant scores, she decided she needed to push her test date back. While this could have been viewed as a huge detriment, Priya took the extra time to focus on the strategies that would bring her success on the exam, and in doing so, she was able to score a 524 in just 3 months after that!

Priya scored in the 100th percentile, which is incredible, and in this interview, we’re going to launch into exactly how she did that!
