In the final Core Class for the fall of 2025, we compare the hermeneutical frameworks of Progressive Covenantalism, Dispensationalism, and Covenant Theology.

The covenant structure of Scripture was designed to culminate in Christ and the New Covenant, the fulfillment of all previous covenant promises. From the progressive nature of the covenants of Scripture, important implications can be drawn regarding the people of God, the sign of the covenant, the role of the law, and the promise of land.

In this session we continue to trace God’s unfolding redemptive plan through the Abrahamic covenant, the Covenant with Israel (or Mosaic covenant), and the Davidic covenant. Through these covenants, God continues to provide his blessing to his people for the good of all nations, while working towards the coming faithful servant and king as the fulfillment of all his promises.

In this session, we begin to trace the story of redemption from the very beginning—exploring how God’s plan, revealed progressively through Scripture, begins with the covenants with Creation and Noah. We’ll see how the Bible’s opening chapters establish the foundation for God’s relationship with man and how God’s promise of redemption begins to unfold, pointing forward from the beginning to Jesus Christ.
