How do you give back to something that has given so much? Jon is putting together a clinic for young RC pilots here in Northern California. It was inspiring to talk with him and hear about his take on RC competition and how we can help the next generation move the hobby forward.

I know the AMA is doing important things for us RC flight enthusiasts. I know that there are powers at work that view what we do as a nuisance or impediment to their goals. This conversation was a sobering reminder that we should not take this great hobby for granted. It takes countless dedicated individuals like Tony to keep the “lights on” when it comes to model aviation. Let all think about what we can do individually to help keep this hobby thriving well into the future.

I really wanted to go to the AMA west expo this year, but I couldn’t make it. But I was in luck! My friends Kalima and Pete did make it and they were kind enough to join me on this week's podcast. They fill me in on all the goings on at the expo and even drop a serious expo update!

Energy is infectious, therefore its best to be around people giving out positive energy. Chris Reibert possibly the most positive, supportive guy in the RC helicopter hobby. He has been helping many of us with our helicopter questions for years via the forums, youtube, and in person support. Its guys like him that keep the great hobby of RC hell’s moving forward. On this weeks podcast Chris takes a moment to share his story.

Listening to Ethan talk about his RC experience was inspiring. I can only imagine what it feels like to progress as quickly as he has over the last few years. He is currently a team pilot for twisted hobbies and Lynx helicopters. Talking with him helped me think about ways I can approach the hobby that will hopefully advance me on to the next level.

Andrew is a true professional. Despite the fact that he is living three lives (F3A competition pilot, AJ aircraft founder, full time aviation professional) he took the time to chat with me. He touches on his experience at worlds in Argentina, and the journey into aircraft design.

What Jim is doing at Xtreme power systems is true wizardry. He has taken a life long passion for RC flight and poured it into a thriving business that is helping make the barrier for entry easier for the rest of us. He highlights his journey through early RC flight, and the progression into running a successful business.

I know when I first fell in love with RC. It was after seeing a F4U Corsair on display at my local hobby shop. I was just a kid, I didn’t have time, money, or means to build something that amazing, but the memory stuck. Fast forward 35 some years I’m now 42 and I have yet to build my dream war bird. But I can always stand in awe others who are making their dreams come true. Kalima Golden (IG: flyboytoys) is bringing his dreams to reality with each build he does. He discusses the start of his RC passion, his techniques, and plans for the future…
