MCF Sermon Podcast

Pastor Ruben explores different types of blindness.  It is common for humans to see through an either/or lense.  We see the effects of this in our world where we are very polarized into categories of Republican/Democrat, good/bad, right/wrong, and sinner/saint.  We need to be healed of this way of seeing so that we can see with the mystical eye, or eye of deeper wisdom.  The fruit of being healed of our "blindness" is always love.

What does it mean to believe in the biblical sense?  Pastor Kevin helps us to understand that if it doesn't "get you on the airplane", it isn't real belief.  True belief is always transformative.  It changes the way we think and, as a result, moves us into action.

Kevin kicks off a new sermon series for Lent entitled, "Give it a Rest".  In this message, Kevin shows us how Jesus' confrontation with the devil in the wilderness is a roadmap for us to overcome temptation to give in to the voice of dissatisfaction rather than the loving voice of God.  We all have a calling in life to give ourselves to loving service.  The voice of temptation is meant to distract us from that calling.  We can learn to identify the voice of temptation and to renounce it just as Jesus did.

There is a car accident destroyed is skateboarding ambitions but how he persevered and now he has to every award nominations under his belt this is a story about never giving up.

We are God's building and God's building project.  Pastors and spiritual leaders simply serve the "temple".  When church is built on human leaders and their own ideas, that is a "building" that will always come crashing down.  We are each important "stones" in God's Temple.
