MCU For Dummies

The Dummies breakdown episodes 2 & 3 of Loki. Loki teams up with the TVA to help track down the target variant. We travel from Oshkosh, Wisconsin in the 1980s and then to Haven Hills, Alabama in 2055. Mobius reveals his love of jet skis and we meet the variant Loki, played by Sophia Di Martino, named Sylvie.

Sylvie has been stealing tempads and TVA reset devices across the sacred timeline while hiding in apocalyptic events. Episode 2 commences with the destruction of the sacred timeline and the escape of Sylvie and Loki.

Episode 3, the shortest in this series thus far, brings us briefly to the TVA and then to Lamentis-1, a planet experiencing its doom during an apocalypse in 2077. Sylvie and Loki attempt to find a power source to recharge their tempad before it's too late. Spanning over 35 minutes of play time, episode 3 acts a prologue to the second half of this season along with what could be the first few pages in the greater story of the multiverse.

Loki Episode 1 Recap: https://apple.co/3zR8Eaa

The Dummies breakdown the season premiere of Loki, a Disney+ original. The god of mischief travels to the Time Variance Authority and meets Mobius M. Mobius (Owen Wilson). This variant version of Loki picks up post Avengers (2012) with the precious tesseract containing the infinity space stone. Precious... more like paper weight!

Loki learns a bit about what his future entails along the sacred timeline and is faced with the internal conflict of being a better person for those in his life. This incredibly moving, engaging and inspiring first episode of the Loki series was rated high amongst critics and our opinion matches their consent as well.

Ken and Lou dive into Edward Norton's rendition of The Incredible Hulk (2008) and the first Thor movie. Both movies are hard to view during a re-watch but Thor is arguably the most important table setter of the stories in Phase 1. Many characters introduced have gone on to hold pivotal roles throughout the greater MCU cannon and Thor is where it all began.

The guys discuss the challenges Marvel Studios faced with creating a standalone sequel for the big green guy. Was it smart to develop Hulk's character arc as features in other movies (Civil War, Ragnarok, End Game)? Why was The Incredible Hulk considered a failure? Was the switch to Mark Ruffalo an upgrade after all?

All of this is discussed and more on this episode of MCU For Dummies
