Me And Steve Talk RPG‘s

Let it never be said we don't listen to our listeners! This week we answer a question a listener posted on our Discord (see link at the top of the page, or further down in the notes here) expand a bit on a concept we've mentioned a few times on the show. That being "Anthology Campaigns". For us, they're just another way to tell a story, and maybe also to just engage ourselves a little more, so listen and enjoy!

Welcome to the sort of "session zero" for a short game of Monster of the Week! We recorded this in late spring of 2024, right before I had to switch shifts at work, so it was kind of a 'last hurrah' for the group that had kind of dubbed themselves "Those Guys".

A big "Thank You!" to Ben for once again running the game, and to Terry, Eric, Hagen, and Steve for coming along for the fun! I hope you all enjoy!

Howdy folks! This week we split our discussion between 2 topics, the first, the much maligned trope of "Murder Hobos" (because episode 187), and the other, in-game communication, and how it can, and can be used to, affect the story you're telling.

Welcome to the conclusion of our little play-through of Havoc Brigade! by Grant Howitt!

Does our misfit band succeed on their mission, or do they even remember what it was? Do they finally prove that "yeeting" goblins does in fact solve problems?

You'll have to listen to find out, but I'm pretty sure you'll find some laughs along the way!

Welcome to Havoc Brigade!, a game written by Grant Howitt, and available here -- https://gshowitt.itch.io/havoc-brigade

Admittedly, this game does seem to feel a bit more lively and fun when played around an actual table, and it one continuous session. That said, we all had fun playing it, and I hope you all enjoy listening to our madness!

It's also worth noting that we did take this rather "cartoony" quite quickly, and it certainly does not have to be played that way. However, as much as we mention this game, we also felt like yall should hear us play it!

The Cast:

"New Steve" -- 'Sergent' Shivvit Deadeye, half-orc infiltrator

     Ben -- Moontoof, Wyrdforest Shaman

Terry -- The Goblins (Stinky Pete, Stab, Snot, Brain, Bang, and Gobblit)

     Eric -- The Ox

Hagan -- Profanius, devout Paladin of Bog-Al-Karukk

     "Old Steve" -- GM

We greatly appreciate the donations of our Patreon supporters: Eric Witman, Jeff McKinney, Joshua Gopal-Boyd, Dave Smith, Brett Bowen, Streety, Nate Doverspike, and Dec!  Y'all make keeping this going possible!
