Max’s month of movies ends with a bang and with a whimper, with the movie heard round the world (or, at least, heard around the kitchen table where we record these).
It is no exaggeration to say that Only Lovers Left Alive (2013), directed by Jim Jarmusch, has irrevocably changed the rules of Max and Karl’s life. If you only watch one movie from this month, make it this one. Absolutely brilliant.

David Lynch continues to amaze us, befuddle us, and make us wonder: just how much of his films are us? 1986’s Blue Velvet is a delight, and a lot of fun to dig around in. More fun than an ear in the grass, or a maskful of nitrous.
