More and more Americans are turning away from their televisions, especially when the news is on. Whether it is the avid churchgoer or the liberal college student, there is one thing that Americans can universally agree on: this era of journalism sucks on toast. I have discussed how distrust of the intellectual community can be quite harmful, and about how I discourage attacks and stereotypes about those with degrees. I recognize that intellectuals, on the whole, are harmless, and often times well-meaning. However, that does not give them a pass to make up history, and distort information as they see fit, and, no, I am not just talking about the far right media. It is quite difficult to even tell the difference between the far right media, and the supposedly liberal, but very much moderate conservative media. One, (the far right) is lying to you about things like high crime rate and hoards of scary flying Antifa ninjas, while the other the branch of the media, who I like to call "the not so far" right) acts as if Hollywood gossip, and crackpot therapies by new age philosophers are crucial to promoting equality around the world. While it is certainly true that media organizations like NBC, CNN and MSNBC tend to not lie so blatantly, they are certainly not without their faults, and pretending as if they are plays right into the Republicans' hands. All sources of knowledge should be scrutinized. Indeed, journalists should welcome scrutiny if they are interested in finding the truth. But all too often we see news organizations on the right, and the left, leaving crucial bits of information out of stories in order to advance whatever political agenda they believe is vital to "protect democracy". Who are they trying to protect us from? Listening to the news today, it seems as if the people have become a kind of enemy to the media. Instead of being nonpartisan, and focusing on the facts, as they so often claim to do, they instead consistently make appeals to emotion. Then, when that fails, as it always does, they lash out at their viewers, branding them as "too stupid to understand" whatever message they are trying to push. There is a fine line between paranoia, and curiosity. Why is it that our only two options for news consist of a bunch of business interests feuding over who has the biggest ego? And you know what I mean by ego...I am not questioning the reality of the events that news organizations report. They are very few false flags. I am not claiming, as did some very prominent "fact based" media organizations, that animal rights activists are terrorists defaming the USDA, nor have I claimed to be unbiased in any way whatsoever, as all of them freaking do, nor have I been paid to sit on my show with a big goofy smile on my face, trying to pretend that the US capitol nearly being overthrown by a violent mob is understandable because, you know, black people. I have not done any of that. Yet I am censored on social media almost ritualistically for being black while speaking. It's quite the idiocy to witness, but you get used to it. It's absolutely hilarious seeing old ass tyrants bitching and moaning about their freedom of speech because, you know, it's not like they can't go and start their own or anything, which is exactly what they freaking did! Who cares if these right wing assholes are censored? They have enough freaking money to create their own damn platforms, remember? They don't need social media; hell, they don't even need fox news. You saw what happened when fox tried telling the truth for two seconds, didn't you? The republicans said, "well, then fine, we're starting our oan network!" And, thus, the OAN network was born. Of course, the conservatives meant "own", but they've never been that great with that thar fancy talk. But it really does seem that they are competing for who can pander to the most people these days. Even the self proclaimed independent demographic has become a cog in the media's wheel.
