Dr. Ramon Jacobs-Shaw is chief clinical officer at Belong Health. He was a founding member of the LGBTQ+ task force at NYU Langone Health which helped NYU Medical Center earn a perfect score on the Health Equality Index. In this episode, Jacobs-Shaw speaks with Fierce reporter Annie Burky about what care, discrimination and support looks like for the LGBTQ+ community.  

Also under discussion is the Medicaid program. Yearly Medicaid determinations were put on pause during the pandemic to ensure people had continued coverage. As of April 1, states can now begin working through that hefty backlog of eligibility rulings. So what role commercial insurers play in this process?
