In this episode we welcome Dr. Amanda Bentley, whose passion for working with elders has made her a strong voice in the community about falls risk and prevention.

Amber Bentley is the Director of Therapy for The Getachew Knee Clinic in Columbus, Ohio, an OP center offering a holistic approach to treating knee pain and arthritis. This allows people to avoid or delay the need for surgery.  Amber received her Bachelors of Science in Biology with honors at Ashland University, while also earning four All-American awards competing as an NCAA Division II runner.  She earned her Masters of Education and Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Cleveland State University.  While at CSU, she published several articles for scientific journal.  A licensed PT for 8 years, she’s worked in home health, skilled nursing, and outpatient settings.  She’s most passionate about geriatrics and is committed to integrating her PT, educational and athletic background to both facilitate functional independence for her patients and to educate the community about the benefits of living healthy and active lifestyles.

Following expert medical advice can be a matter of life or death. All those experts--who can we trust? In Part 1 of this episode about medical experts, Katrina and Dr. Gina take a deep dive. We have some discussion on what makes up expertise, and also share our personal stories of when the doctor was wrong-o. We also talk about why we need to rely on experts, the problem with blindly trusting them, and celebrity experts with opinions. Finally, we talk about our beloved pets, Winston the Ewok and Pookie the Fluffybutt. We learn that Katrina is a good dog mom, and give a shoutout to our expert veterinarians.

During the initial days of shelter-in-place, we--Katrina and Dr. Gina--were feeling contemplative about everything happening in the U.S. and personally trying to make sense of it all. In this episode, we examine traditional notions of productivity in terms of person and their workplace.
