A quick and easy guide for those interested in learning about meditation
Between working two jobs and volunteering several days out of the week, my life is pretty booked and I hardly ever seem to have downtime. (sounds familiar doesn't it?) Despite how much I enjoy and find fulfillment in all of the different things I do with my time, I still find myself getting a little overwhelmed or burnt out from time to time. I needed a quick way to de-stress without cutting something out of my life, so I figured why not give meditation a chance? This book was just what I needed to help me get to know everything I needed to about the ins and outs of meditation. Whether you're new to meditation and relaxation techniques or someone who's been at it for a while, this guide is a great tool. It gives clear definitions and easy to understand terminology for beginners and offers plenty of clarification and details for those who may not be as in tune with some of the smaller details of meditation. It provides great practical help and examples for everyone to follow. It starts with discussing what mediation is, and all of the various benefits it could provide. I was amazed to learn that it can even help with my asthma! I had always assumed that it's benefits were limited to stress and tension related issues. It then jumps right into the different components of mediations and some practical ways to get the most of your meditation time. This book was so helpful and informative in many ways, you can tell the author really put a lot of time and thought into the book and really did their research. There was a lot of little details added in that really made it so much better and more in-depth than any of the other guides that I've looked at heretofore
Another Great Book by Sherell Brown-Mitchell
Another great book by Sherell Brown-Mitchell! I have been considering meditation for quote some time now and I picked up this book as I enjoyed others by the same author, and let me tell you - this book really explains things. I was told to try meditating as a way to relieve stress and just live an overall healthier life, but I had no idea there were multiple kinds of meditations, and so many things to learn.
