just as it says
If you are beginning to explore sitting meditation, this is an excellent audio guide and introduction. The guided practice is succinct and well-done, and I appreciated the commentary before and after. It is a nice progression - from breathing meditation and slightly beyond - easy to listen to and nicely explained. A friend had recommended the printed version of this book, but I found that having the audio guided practice much more appropriate than trying to read/remember/practice. Initially, the audio helps me to re-direct/return to focus. Highly recommended.
Great, compact, effective
This is what a meditation audio should be. It's brief and includes four or five guided meditations of around ten minutes each, along with brief discussions by the author before and after each meditation.
Meditation fro beginners
Excelent introduction to starting to meditate. Great teacher.
Down to earth and useful
Practical guidance in the first half with useful, grounding 5-10 minute meditation practices punctuating each progression. I'm enjoying learning to meditate this way. He's clearly realistic about this practice and it's difficult points and funny at times.
The second half describes Buddhism's 4 noble truths, with short meditations on each - personally a bit less useful to me, but I think I may be too inexperienced to really get something out of meditations about particular philosophies. I'll probably pick those up again later to see if I feel differently.
Either way, this does well as an audiobook and is a great intro to meditation. Narrator is easy to listen to.
Great way to learn
I am new to meditating and trying to do it on my own was difficult. This audio book made it easy and enjoyable.
