“Power From On High” teaches that God’s ultimate desire for humanity is intimate relationship, not empty religion, and that this relationship is made possible through works, but by ongoing work of the Holy Ghost. Beginning with Jesus’ promise in The Gospel of Luke 24:49, the study emphasized that believers are called to walk in the Spirit and “know” God deeply, using the Hebrew word yada to describe a personal, experiential intimacy with Him. From the prophecies of Isaiah, Joel, and John the Baptist to the fulfillment at Pentecost in Acts of the Apostles 2, the lesson showed that the Holy Ghost was always God’s promised plan for His people. Just as Passover led Israel to Sinai and the giving of the Law, Calvary and the resurrection led believers to the upper room and the outpouring of the Spirit, where God’s law would be written on hearts instead of stone. The study highlighted that Pentecost is not merely a denomination or experience, but a Spirit-filled relationship that brings power, joy, peace, hope, guidance, holiness, and boldness for witness. The same Spirit that filled the 120 in the upper room is still available today to “all that are afar off,” empowering believers to overcome sin, walk in intimacy with God, and live Spirit-led lives through the abiding presence of the Comforter.
