God is a black man
Deep mahogany skin
Hands so big
This colossal woman
Feels tiny in
Voice so deep
His speech is like a swarm of honeybees
Sounds just as sweet
Lips as soft and smooth as coconut milk
Quenching my thirst at 3 am
Just the thought of him
This must be the milk and honey
The Israelites were wandering for for 40 years
It’s only been 30 for me
But life without you still felt like an eternity
Legs like tree trunks and I want to climb
Build my fort
My inner child’s fortress
Finally protected
I whisper all my secrets into your walls
And you are the keeper of them all
God of a man
Ode to the black man
More beauty
More melanin
Black berry
Sweet juice
Dripping down my chin
How
How could this love be a sin
How could my lips not utter in worship
How could I not bow to you in submission
I feel like you are all my prayers
Come to fruition
I Barr my fangs
And I bare my claws
The jealousy of my insecurities
Threatening to ruin it all
Your lion heart
My Leo eyes
Charming smile
Making this roaming lioness
Want to stay a while
Soft chocolate covered marshmallow lips
Oh what heavenly ecstasy it would be to kiss
What glory it would be in those protective arms
What miraculous phenomena to be called “mine” by that sweet honeycomb voice
God of a man
You said let there be light into my barren universe now there’s days with you
No more endless nights
But nights with you are just as beautiful Riddled with the stars that you are
A million wishes and galaxies
Milky and smooth
I love you
You are glitter
&
You are gold
Exploding inside me
Fierce and bold
No matter what lies the world has told
Beautiful black man this is your ode
And I love you
With all my soul #love #poetry #spokenword #ode #twinflame #twinflameseperation
