This week I meet with Liz Harsant, Borough Councillor for Ipswich who is currently fighting forthcoming local elections. Stalwart of the community and local business woman. I wanted to find out a bit more about how the Council is structured, about collaboration in politics, and what drives and motivates her at a time when most of us are fed up with the whole lot of them! I also get her reflections in lessons from her time leading a joint administration.

This week I meet Sally Goodsell, Director of Anglia Capital Group, Angel Investor, self-confessed Dragon and someone who spent the glory years of the 1980s as one of the youngest women ever to be appointed to the Board of a blue blooded Merchant Bank. She challenges me on board diversity and reveals some interesting facts about women as investors. As someone who has been there and has the t-shirt she knows her onions.

A bonus episode this week. I meet special friend of the Podcast, Steve Britt, who has a number of different roles. His background is in transport, logistics and distribution. He’s given an awful lot to the local business community through his role on the Chamber of Commerce. He’s also got a job in the City of London at the moment running his Livery Company. He’s politically very engaged, particularly as far as how politics affects small business is concerned. Steve is somebody I think we will come back to for bonus episodes, and I wanted to talk to him this week given the current state of Parliament. Hope you enjoy.

This month I meet Tom Hunt, Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the marginal seat of Ipswich in Suffolk. He is someone who fancies his chances at being an MP, so I was interested to understand how he decided to get into that world, what he makes of the current mess of our politics, and what he would do if he is selected. Particularly for business!

This month I meet Mark Ling, a very experienced professional in the transportation and logistics industry. He also has a pretty unique insight into the world of local politics, and is passionate about his home town of Ipswich. With less than 1000 hours to go before the scheduled Brexit date, what does he think the outlook is for this key sector?
