The Adventure Paradox

Meeting Yourself in Times of Transition

Listen Later

Recording from a chalet in Arabba, Italy, I reflect on my Italian skiing journey, the importance of self-care, and the emotional shifts that come with travel and transitions. Waking up to church bells and a breathtaking view of the Dolomites, I embrace the need for rest and recovery after intense days on the slopes.

A simple laundry day turns into an adventure, with language barriers, a faulty machine, and a trek to an ATM. A kind Italian stranger helps me, and I find humor in sharing space with chickens. It’s a reminder to stay flexible and adapt. A beautiful experience still has it's laundry.

Takeaways from this Episode:

  • Embracing the emotional ups and downs of transitions, including the bittersweet feeling when a great experience comes to an end.
  • Staying flexible and adaptable when unexpected changes and challenges arise.
  • Recognizing the importance of personal responsibility, whether in travel, adventure, or everyday situations.

As I prepare to ski to a hut in Lagoszo, carrying all I need, I reflect on trusting the journey. Balancing adventure with everyday tasks teaches me patience and resilience. No matter where I am, I can turn on my mic and share my story—embracing the beauty of both the highs and the in-between moments.
