This week on Mehmooni I speak with actress, producer & writer Niousha Noor (@nioushanoor). Her most recent project is portraying ‘Neda’ in the film “The Night”, with Shahab Hosseini and directed by Kourosh Ahari.

She has portrayed a variety of different characters showcasing her diverse range. Other projects include the short “Foreign”, “Here & Now”, “My Immigrant Family” and #Persianize!

Niousha is currently working on a new project she is writing titled “Blue Flower”.

This week on Mehmooni I speak with Parastoo Rezai who is the author of the debut novel Remembering Hope (@rememberinghope). She lives in San Diego, California, with her devoted husband, two heart-warming children, and one rambunctious puppy who follows her around like a shadow wherever she may go. Parastoo received her bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from UCSD, a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Southern California, and a Master’s degree in Pharmacoeconomics from the University of Florida. For much of her career, Parastoo has worked as a Clinical Pharmacist, serving various disciplines within the profession. When not working, she devotes much of her time to pursue other passions such as reading, writing, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Her inspiration for this novel comes from deep empathy for individuals coping with hardships and how triumphing after each struggle is possible if hope continues to reside in our hearts.

Her most recent project is a short film titled “All of You”. Which she has starred in and co-written with Shahrzad Davani. “All of You” is about the societal pressures on women with regards to being in a relationship and starting a family.

Mojean Aria (@MojeanAria) is an actor, writer, and a director. He is also the founder of the production collective Mystic Makers, a company committed to diverse storytelling.

In late 2017, Mojean accepted the GQ Man of the Year Legacy Award representing Australians in Film. Also in 2017, Mojean Aria was the recipient of the Heath Ledger Scholarship.

Some of his credits include roles on Apple TV’s “SEE”, “Reminiscence”, “The Bronx Bull” and many more.

Mojean has also starred in the highly acclaimed short film “The Suitcase” and human rights film “Aban & Khorshid”.

On this episode of Mehmooni I speak with Nima Behnoud (@nimany). The New York-based designer Nima Behnoud was born in Tehran and educated at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. He launched his first brand, NIMANY, when still in his 20s with a celebrated series of garments that established his distinctive style incorporating Persian typography in modern, layered designs. NIMANY quickly became known globally for Nima’s successful infusion of Persian motives and contemporary style.

In his 30s, Nima extended this unique design concept into jewelry and handbags, including a ring with the Farsi letter ‘H’ that not only became a perennial best seller but also established the letter as a signature element of his work.

On this episode of Mehmooni I speak with Shayan Ebrahim (@shayanebrahim). Shayan is an Iranian-American filmmaker who grew up in Tehran until the age of 15. While attending UCLA, Shayan filmed and edited a documentary called The Drop Box, which went on to win the grand jury prize at SAICFF and was later released theatrically, becoming one of the highest grossing movies in Fathom Events history.

Since then, he has edited another theatrical feature film called The Dating Project, as well as nationally-broadcast commercials for companies such as Google, iHeart Radio, and Volkswagen. He has also written and directed several award-winning short films and viral Persian sketch videos. Most recently, he was hired to adapt a New York Times bestselling novel into an animated film.

On this episode of Mehmooni I speak with Ashkon Seyed-Safi. Ashkon is a medical student studying in London. He has studied pre-clinical medicine at Cambridge University and is now completing his clinical studies at UCL. Although he took some time off to complete a PhD in the middle studying the behaviour of stem cells at the front of the eye. In the future he hopes to become an eye surgeon.

We talk about Norouz, and Ashkon’s experience growing up with both Persian and English culture at home.
