assassinate 從 assassin (當作名詞代表暗殺者) 而來，這個字最初描述的是西元8到14世紀之間波斯的尼扎里教徒當中的暗殺團體 ，他們是什葉派伊斯蘭教的第二大分支，當時由主領 Hassan-i Sabbah 領到的小組以Assassin為人所知，並對基督教十字軍菁英進行政治刺殺，這個字與大麻相關毒品 hashish 有關，有人說他們進行刺殺前都會吸食hashish。
