Melissa's reporting focuses on transnational issues often involving China – as well as the rise in global authoritarianism. 

She has written for The New York Times, The Atlantic, the Guardian – and many more. Melissa also co-authored the graphic novel You Must Take Part In Revolution – a dystopian fiction about a near-future war between the US and China.
