  • What The Cornell 7 Broke Open In Me

Content warning: This episode contains detailed, personal descriptions of sexual assault, including an experience from childhood, and themes of family trauma and emotional abuse. Please take care of yourself while listening.

The Cornell 7 refers to the recent case of a Cornell student who alleges she was drugged and raped by seven fraternity members, none of whom faced criminal charges. It's been moving through everyone's feeds this week, and it cracked something open in me.

I don't normally share like this mid-process. I usually speak from the other side, after I've already moved through something. But what's surfacing right now isn't something I could wait to process privately and hand you a neat conclusion.

So much of what I teach is about moving things through the body instead of staying stuck in the story, about self-responsibility instead of shame. I could keep that as a concept I explain to you, or I could show you what it actually looks like to live it, in real time, while it's still tender and I don't have it all figured out yet.

In this episode I share two of my own experiences with sexual assault, including one at 15, and the way my own mother responded in both moments, not with support, but with shame and control. This isn't a teaching episode. It's raw, unscripted, and still mid-process while I recorded it.

I know so many of you are activated right now too. I don't want you to feel alone in what you're carrying, and I trust that showing up honest is more powerful than showing up perfect.

    Big love

  • Episode Six: Mels Musings -"Is It Hard, Or Is It Just Uncomfortable?"

Is It Hard, Or Is It Just Uncomfortable?

"In this episode of Mel's Musings, I'm sharing a conversation from my Fire Shaper group as we closed out six weeks together, and the question one of the women asked that stopped me in my tracks: you wonder why no one does this work.

We talk about the difference between hard and uncomfortable, why staying stuck in the same emotional loop actually feels harder than change, and how your conscious mind is only 5% of you while your nervous system and unconscious mind, the other 95%, are running the show trying to keep you safe in what is familiar rather than what you desire.

I share a personal moment with my own son that showed me exactly how these patterns get passed down without us even realising it, and what it actually takes to break that cycle instead of carrying it seven generations further.

At the end of this episode, I take you through a short guided process you can use anytime you notice yourself reacting, to come back into your body and meet what is really underneath it instead of getting lost in the story in your mind.

If this lands for you, this is exactly the work we go deeper into inside Foundations of Self and hold together inside Becoming Whole.

    Big love

  • Episode Five: Mels Musings - Stop Creating The Connection. Start Receiving It.

Stop Creating The Connection. Start Receiving It.

"You don't have to chase what is capable of meeting you."

For most of her life, Melissa was the one creating the connection, in her relationships, her business, her parenting. In this episode, recorded as a raw, unfiltered download, she unpacks the pattern underneath it: a nervous system that never learned how to receive, especially its own worth.

She traces it back to childhood, to earning love instead of trusting it, and shares how a recent trigger through her father's health finally broke the loop. This is not a teaching from theory. It's Melissa thinking out loud, in real time, about the exact pattern she is living through and healing as she records.

    In this episode:

    • Why noticing your patterns in the moment matters more than understanding them intellectually
    • The difference between creating a connection and receiving one, and why the difference is control
    • How childhood adaptations (earning love, over-functioning, over-giving) get wired in before we have words for them
    • Why insight alone never breaks a pattern, and what actually does
    • Melissa's own recognition, through her dad's declining health, that she had been outsourcing love in a familiar, ultimately abandoning direction
    • Building the capacity to receive without needing to control the outcome
    • Holding grief and big feeling without falling back into old patterns
    • Why this work happens in the moment, not in a course

    Key quotes:
"Is this actually mine to pursue, or am I trying to create reciprocation where there isn't any?"
"I know the fuck yes and I know the fuck no."
"It's not another strategy. It's like, wow, I just need to be here."

  • Episode Four of Mels Musings - Your Purpose Was Never About What You Do

What if you've been chasing purpose in all the wrong places?

In this episode of Mel's Musings, I'm getting honest about what purpose actually is and why so many high-functioning women feel completely lost even when life looks good from the outside.

I share my own story: the moment everything dissolved, 11 generations of women carrying what was never theirs, what emotional sovereignty actually feels like, and why your nervous system is the gateway to everything you've been searching for.

This is my path. My process. The work I was born to do.

If you've ever felt like you're drowning behind a smile, this one is for you.

    Big Love

  • Episode Three: From Fear to Freedom: Rewiring the Nervous System for Purpose

In this episode, I share my evolving journey of moving from survival into true nervous system freedom. For years, I understood the patterns, I knew the beliefs and I could see the programs.

But understanding wasn’t the shift. The deeper work has been rebuilding my foundation, not just mentally, but within my body.

This work hasn’t only helped me release old conditioning, beliefs, and emotional pain, It has allowed me to access something deeper.

A cellular remembrance, a reconnection to who I am beneath survival.

Because you cannot fully step into your purpose while your nervous system is still wired for protection. Freedom is not mindset, it is capacity.

Capacity to stay. Capacity to feel. Capacity to hold yourself when life challenges you.

    In this episode, I explore:

    • The difference between intellectual awareness and embodied freedom
     • Why survival patterns keep pulling you back
     • What it truly means to build a new internal foundation
     • How nervous system work unlocks purpose at a deeper level

If you feel called to go deeper, here are supportive pathways to guide you:

  • Episode Two - Mels Musings -"What Happened When I Stopped Chasing Life and Started Chasing Myself"

Episode 2: What Happened When I Stopped Chasing Life and Started Chasing Myself

This episode is a raw reflection of the year I stopped running toward the life I thought I should have and began walking myself home.

For the first time, I chose me. Moment by moment. Breath by breath. I started to notice the little spaces where I was still abandoning myself in the name of responsibility, love, or survival. The inner child in me who had always felt responsible for everyone else's happiness… she finally got to rest.

This episode is about what happens when we honour the void. When we stop filling it with noise or busyness and let it whisper back our truth. It’s about the discomfort of no longer rescuing others. The vulnerability of choosing your own path when no one else in your lineage has. And the devotion it takes to become the woman you were always meant to be.

I share how midlife has been a sacred initiation not into more doing, but deeper being. And why chasing myself wasn’t about selfishness… but about finally coming home to a woman who nurtures, aligns, and honours her truth unapologetically.

✨ If you’re navigating a season of letting go, of returning, of choosing you this one’s for you.

  • Episode One - Mels Musing - Understanding your Truth

In this first musing, I share what I believe it truly means to find your truth.

Not through knowledge gathered from the outside world…
but through the tender journey of meeting the personality you created to cope,
and gently reclaiming the self that lives beneath the wounds.

It’s about closing the loops that have kept you circling in limitation,
freeing your body from the weight of the past,
and remembering who you are beyond the pain that once protected you.

This is the path of returning home —
to a nervous system rewired for safety,
to a body that can finally feel,
to a truth that no challenge can take from you.

May these words land as a reminder:
your truth is not something to be found out there,
     but remembered, within you.

    Big Love
