This mini-series on membership site planning is really good as I'm going to start with the basic concepts but by the end of this mini-series, you should have a lot more clarity how to structure and organize things in your membership site, and also the order in which you should release things to maximize the profits from your membership site. My goal is to help you launch your membership site, without getting overwhelmed or stressed out, with proper planning and execution.
A profitable membership site uses a mix of free and paid content, offers it in a structured, easy-to-consume, logical order to guide the members from their start state to their desired end state, in a step-by-step fashion, without overwhelming them, ultimately delivering the promised transformation.
In this episode, I'm going to talk about membership site terminology so we are on the same page when we reference content, products, levels etc. I want you to completely understand some of key membership site concepts before we deep dive into membership site planning.
It's definitely daunting to think that you have to continually create fresh content to justify what you charge for your recurring membership and as a result those that want to start a membership site are so overwhelmed with the amount of work and commitment that's involved in creating and running a membership site, they end up not even starting one.
A membership site is multi-dimensional. If your product does not naturally lend itself to an ongoing recurring model, then just don't use that model. There are several other membership site models. A recurring membership is just type of membership site.
This is part 2 of a 2-part series on Membership Site Misconceptions caused by misleading and incorrect information out there about membership sites that prevents people from achieving success.
These misconceptions does not only prevent people from starting a membership site as they believe they need to keep coming up with new/fresh content to keep their membership site going, but it also affects those that have a membership site because of unrealistic expectations from their membership site.
And the end result is just frustration & disappointment.
So with this 2-part series on Membership Site Myths, my goal is to educate you on these misconceptions so you can get the most out of your membership site!
As this is the very first episode of DAP Cast, I'm going to introduce you to membership sites and some of the basic concepts.
One of the biggest membership site myths is that you only need a membership site to sell recurring products or services. Not true. You can use your membership site as a lead magnet, where people give you their name and email in order to become a member and access your protected content.
Recurring income from your membership site will make it easier to grow your business and with the predictable recurring revenue from existing customers, you don't have to worry about finding new customers to sell your products every single month. It reduces the pressure of having to make continual new sales month after month to pay the bills. And at the same time, the recurring income will give you the budget, the funds that you need to expand your team and spruce up your marketing efforts to bring in new members into your membership program.
For a recurring business model, you need to have a product or service that people will want to use or buy on a regular basis.
Not all businesses lend themselves to the subscription model, but many businesses do. With a little bit of creativity, you will likely find a way to build recurring revenue into your business .
The passive streams of income will free up your time and allow you to focus on your content, your passion, your creativity, your customers and expand your business.
