After Scully reveals her cancer diagnosis to Mulder, they revisit an old case involving multiple women, purported abductees, who’ve developed similar symptoms after having a metal implant removed from the base of their necks. When Scully meets with the remaining survivor, Penny Northern, she decides to begin treatment in search of the truth. Meanwhile, Mulder, Skinner, and The Lone Gunmen take action to find a way to save Scully’s life. This episode was written by Chris Carter, Vince Gilligan, John Shiban, and Frank Spotnitz.
