Welcome Marcus Boyd as he shares his truth on living as a black man with Autism. Marcus Leonardo Boyd is 4x Award winning Autism Activist. He is also a 13x Award Winning Music producer and composer. Marcus is the CEO of Multiple businesses. He was born with Autism and didn’t start speaking until he was 13 or 13 1/2 at a 2 year old level. So many doctors said the left side of his brain didn't function correctly and he would never get an education, feed himself, put his own clothes or be able to function on his own. He was on so my medications and he had problems with communication and emotional issues. He was abused for years in every way you can imagine. He was in 17 different foster homes, 16 different group homes and 16 different mental hospitals. Marcus was in electrical shock therapy for years where he was electrocuted for 20 minutes a day for years to get him to focus to take his medication. Him being non verbal and feeling alone he felt like no one would love someone with Autism. He also felt like no one would understand him. Today God has blessed him to be in places he never dreamed of.
Marcus shares how he was beaten, starved, raped and counted out. He shares how he overcame what many would expect to destroy him. Marcus gives us an inside look at what autism is, how it feels and what is associated with a meltdown. His story will give you hope, inspiration and motivation that you can do ANYTHING you put your mind too.

Bill Davis joins us to share his truth on what successful black fathering looks like. The why, how and what it takes to raise successful children as a single black dad. Bill shares how many people thought taking on raising his four children as a single dad was not a good idea. He shares how he defeated the odds and overcame the challenges by forming a village. Bill has two sons and two daughters he discussing the difference in raising sons vs raising daughters and why it was important to not only recognize but acknowledge the difference in order to raise healthy men and women.
He shares his experience with trying to date being a single dad of four. Was he treated like a single mom of four? Were his struggles the same of that of a single mom? Was it more difficult or did people give him more help because he is a man?

Dr. George James joins us to share his truth from the practical to the clinical side. He shares the importance of balance in raising sons and daughters. Dr. James explains why it is just as important to hug his son as it is to hug his daughter. He believes boys should be allowed to express their feelings, so he makes it a point to teach his son the importance of vulnerability.
He also shares why there is such a struggle in communication and the trauma that ghosting someone can cause. Are you afraid to share because it's an "emotional risk"? We have eye opening dialogue on why it is hard to take this risk and how to overcome this challenge.

NJ Assemblyman, Community Activist Jamel Holley joins us to share his truth. Jamel shares that there is no obstacle that you can't overcome if your are persistent and consistent. He shares his journey of being born to a fifteen year old mom and how the support of the village made him the man he is today.
He goes on to share the importance of boots on the ground. Why it is vital to not only go into the community you wish to serve but to get input and feedback from the very people who are experiencing the obstacles within their very own communities. He also makes it know how important it is to have people who look like the people in the community to have a seat at the table.
Jamel is more than white noise in the background he is a trailblazer and game changer in the community. His demonstrated leadership has allowed him to bridge many gaps and foster relationships on everything from preserving Roselle taxpayers’ dollars, to standing up for the creation of good government spending practices, to supporting youth recreation, and preserving open space.
In 2002, Jamel earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from New Jersey City University, and holds a Master ofPublic Administration Degree from Kean University.
In 2001, Holley was appointed by New Jersey’s Deputy Majority Leader to serve as Chief of Staff. That appointment earned him recognition as the youngest Chief of Staff in the State of New Jersey for any of the State’s 120 Legislators.
On November 2, 2004, Holley won the General Election for Councilman At Large in the Borough of Roselle. He became the youngest Councilman in Union County at age 25.
Holley was once again successful in his 2007 and 2010 election bid for Councilman At Large. In November 2011, Holley was elected Mayor and became the youngest Mayor ever elected in the Borough’s 117th year history.
In January 2015, Holley was appointed to fill a seat in the New Jersey General Assembly representing the 20th Legislative District. This appointment made Holley the first African American to represent the district in the New Jersey Legislature. Holley later won the election bid for the full term in November 2017 and again in November 2019.
Currently, Holley is the Director of Public Works for the Township of Irvington.
Holley’s future plans include continuing his public service in order to serve others using his experience and knowledge of local, state and federal government.
