We are so nice to check in on others & make sure they are doing ok, but we aren't doing that for ourselves. Why? If we took the time to evaluate how we were doing FIRST, then go & help others, we wouldn't be as run-down, burnt out & depleted as we have been.

Have you been kind to yourself? I think you only hear this question from people that are SUPER into emotions or hardcore wellness people on the internet. And today I am going to be one of those people.
For reals though, I need to be asking myself this question every single day. YOU need to be asking yourself this question every single day. And not in a “this is really silly but I’m going to force myself to do it” kind of way. We need to be more serious about it. We need to be honest with ourselves & ask this question intending to get real answers.
Checking-in with ourselves is one of the best ways to make sure we are taking care of ourselves emotionally & give ourselves the opportunity to make changes & do better by ourselves. It’s unacceptable that we will treat everyone else like royalty & treat ourselves like crap. The longer you do that the more work you will have to do when you do decide to check-in with yourself or HAVE to because you’re run down & burnt out. Plus, it’s a normal thing to do mental health check-ins with our friends & family to make sure they have what they need & are doing ok. Why not make this a normal practice with our own emotional health.
