Not all who are outwardly affiliated with a church — even with a faithful church — not all who have been baptized or who have partaken of the Lord’s Supper will be saved.

It is God’s perfect will that children obey their parents in all things – the only exception being when obedience to parents would cause disobedience to God (cf. Acts 5:29). Obedience to parents, God says, is “well pleasing unto the Lord.”

Are you ready to die and stand before God, your Maker? Are you at peace with God, knowing that your sins are paid for and forgiven for Christ’s sake?

In so many ways, Christ’s Church in this world — His little band of true believers — is like that boat being swamped by the waves in the windstorm on the Sea of Galilee. Will it perish?

The Scriptures tell us that, when God created man, He formed man's body of the dust of the ground, breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul.

The LORD God created the first man and woman in His own image and after His likeness. What does this mean? What happened to that image? Will it be restored?

The Bible calls upon us to pray in faith, but what is it to pray in faith? Today’s Gospel provides two excellent examples.

In the Parable of the Vine and the Branches, Jesus teaches us that only those who abide in Him – those who are connected to Him through saving faith – are able to produce fruit acceptable to the LORD God; and God the Father will cut off those branches which produce no fruit for Him. He also prunes and purges those branches which do produce fruit that they might bring forth more fruit for Him.

The result of Jesus' turning water into wine at a wedding feast was a revelation of Jesus' person to His disciples, causing them to believe that He indeed was and is the Son of God and the promised Messiah and Savior of Israel.

January 22 marks the 49th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision which opened the way for legalized abortion in the United States; and I would have to count that day to be the saddest in American history because, since that day, almost 63.5 million babies have been murdered in this country through legalized abortion.
